Password, Gift Cards, and Customer Accounts

Firefly includes a password storefront, a Shopify gift-card page, and Liquid templates for classic customer accounts. These are three different systems: protecting an unpublished store, displaying an issued gift card, and authenticating customers.

Password storefront

Shopify’s storefront password can restrict public access while a store is being prepared. Firefly’s password layout contains:

  • Password header
  • Email signup banner
  • Password footer

Password header

Settings include Color scheme, Login form color scheme, Mobile message alignment, Login form width, and desktop/mobile vertical padding. The merchant login opens the storefront password form; it is not a customer-account login.

Email signup banner

The newsletter form uses Shopify’s customer form and is separate from password access. A customer can join the mailing list without receiving the storefront password. Configure an accurate heading, text, image, button, alignment, scheme, and privacy wording for the store.

Password footer

Settings include Show social links, desktop/mobile alignment, padding, and Color scheme. Social icons require valid URLs in global Theme settings.

Gift-card page

When Shopify serves an issued gift card, Firefly can display:

  • initial value and remaining balance;
  • expired or disabled state;
  • a selectable and copyable gift-card code;
  • a QR code generated from Shopify’s gift-card identifier;
  • Add to Apple Wallet when Shopify provides a pass URL;
  • Continue shopping and Print actions;
  • an expiry date when one exists.

The gift-card template presents Shopify’s gift-card record; it does not issue, fund, disable, expire, or redeem cards. Test an actual store-issued fixture in a controlled environment before relying on printed or wallet behavior.

Classic customer accounts

Firefly includes templates for:

  • Login and password recovery
  • Register
  • Activate account
  • Reset password
  • Account order history
  • Address creation, editing, and deletion
  • Order detail

Authentication forms use Shopify’s native customer forms and validation. The Customer authentication section provides desktop/mobile heading alignment, form width, desktop/mobile padding, page Color scheme, Form color scheme, and top/bottom spacing.

Account and order data

Order history and order detail are available only to an authenticated customer and use Shopify’s records. Fulfillment status and tracking links appear when Shopify supplies them. Firefly does not infer a delivery state or query an external carrier independently.

Addresses

Customers can add, edit, delete, and set default addresses through Shopify’s customer address forms. Test country-specific province/state behavior, validation errors, default-address changes, and keyboard focus with a controlled account.

New customer accounts

If the store uses Shopify’s new customer accounts, account links lead to Shopify-hosted pages. Firefly cannot change the layout of those hosted account pages. Store branding and account configuration available in Shopify Admin still apply, but Liquid customer-template changes apply only to classic accounts.

Guest checkout

A guest-login option can appear when Shopify exposes it for the current checkout context. Guest checkout availability is not created by the theme and can vary with store configuration.

Review checklist

  • Password form success/failure and newsletter success/error are distinct.
  • Mobile password layout, focus trap/return, and long translated labels remain usable.
  • Classic account login, recovery, registration, activation, reset, logout, and error states.
  • Authenticated order pagination, line details, discounts, fulfillment, and tracking links.
  • Address CRUD with representative countries.
  • Gift-card value, balance, inactive/expired states, copy fallback, QR, print, and wallet link where available.

If a customer page looks different from the theme preview, first confirm whether the store uses classic or new customer accounts. For a broader diagnostic list, see FAQ and Troubleshooting.
