Create your first AI-assisted Shopify draft

Estimated reading: 3 minutes 3 views

Firefly separates generation from publication. You first generate and review an illustrated preview. A Shopify article is created only after you explicitly confirm it, and the new article is created as an unpublished draft.

Firefly AI writing form showing article topic, search intent, and target audience

Prepare useful inputs

Open AI creation → AI writer, then complete the fields that matter for the article:

  • Article topic — state the reader’s question and the outcome the article should provide.
  • Search intent — choose informational, commercial research, purchase, tutorial, or navigational intent.
  • Target audience — identify the reader, their situation, and their main concern.
  • Primary keyword — use one primary phrase for the article.
  • Secondary keywords — add two to five related terms separated by commas.
  • Article language and length — choose them for this article; these can differ from the global defaults.
  • Inline image count — choose one to five generated section images.
  • Blog — select the Shopify blog that will own the future draft.

You can also select up to three Shopify products, upload a TXT, Markdown, CSV, or JSON reference file up to 1 MB, and add requirements or prohibited claims. Use real product facts and approved sources; do not ask the model to invent specifications, ratings, or testimonials.

Generate and review the preview

  1. Check the estimated managed-AI Token range shown below the form.
  2. Choose Generate article and images.
  3. Firefly plans the article, generates the section images, and builds a full preview. The task can continue in the background.
  4. Review the title, summary, tags, body, images, captions, alt text, product claims, links, and SEO presentation.
  5. Regenerate an individual image if needed instead of starting the whole article again.

No Shopify article has been created at this stage.

Firefly illustrated article preview stating that no Shopify article exists yet and showing the confirmation action

The preview explicitly states that no Shopify article exists yet. Confirm and create Shopify draft is the separate action that creates the unpublished draft.

Create the Shopify draft

When the preview is ready:

  1. Recheck the selected Shopify blog and final preview.
  2. Choose Confirm and create Shopify draft.
  3. Open the resulting draft in Firefly’s visual editor.
  4. Make any final edits, run publishing preflight, and save the article as a draft before deciding whether to publish or schedule it.

Confirmation creates an unpublished draft only. Firefly does not publish the article merely because generation completed.

How Tokens work during generation

  • Firefly-managed text and image generation share one Token balance.
  • Firefly reserves the upper usage estimate while a job is running so overlapping jobs cannot overspend the available balance.
  • A completed text or image operation with valid provider usage is charged from its confirmed successful usage.
  • A successful managed image without a valid provider usage report uses the disclosed 10,000-Token fallback.
  • Failed or undelivered managed operations are not finally charged.
  • Paid plan allowances replenish on their subscription-based monthly allowance cycle. An annual subscription still replenishes at each monthly anniversary inside the annual term.
  • Purchased add-on Tokens do not expire and do not unlock subscription-only features.
  • An eligible merchant can receive one 14-day trial on the first paid subscription. Changing plan or billing interval does not start another trial.
  • Pro merchants can optionally connect supported AI providers. Calls made through the merchant’s connected provider do not deduct Firefly Tokens.

Open Subscription inside the app for the current plan allowances, feature access, and prices.

If generation is interrupted

Open the illustrated generation archive in the AI writer. Firefly retains generated runs so you can reopen a saved preview or regenerate missing images when that recovery action is available. Review the restored result again before creating a Shopify draft.
