Create a blog article from a YouTube video

Estimated reading: 3 minutes 4 views

Use Video to blog article to turn approved YouTube source material into an unpublished Shopify draft. Firefly retrieves the video’s official title and description, combines them with the transcript you provide, and uses your article settings to create a draft for review.

Before you start

  • Choose a public YouTube video with a clear, accurate transcript or subtitles. Cleaner and more complete source text produces a more useful draft.
  • Only use a video description and transcript that you have the right to reuse.
  • Check that the destination Shopify blog is available.
  • Remember that generated content still requires merchant review.

Load the video details

  1. Open AI tools → Video to blog article.
  2. Paste a supported public YouTube URL and choose Load video details.
  3. Review the thumbnail, official title, channel, and description returned by YouTube.

Firefly uses YouTube’s official metadata service. If the description is unavailable, add a transcript before generating. Firefly does not bypass YouTube access controls or send the link to a third-party subtitle-download site.

Add the article settings

  • AI model: choose one of the models currently approved for this workflow.
  • Article topic: enter a specific focus for the draft. This field is required.
  • Main keyword: enter the primary search phrase the article should address. This field is required.
  • Language: choose the language for the generated title and body.
  • Tone: describe the intended writing style, such as clear, practical, or conversational.
  • Audience: describe who the article is for and what they already know.
  • Transcript: paste a transcript or upload a supported TXT, VTT, or SRT file. Use clear, accurate text and remove unrelated instructions or promotional clutter where practical.

Topic, Main keyword, Tone, and Audience directly shape the draft. Specific inputs usually produce a more focused and useful article.

Generate and review the draft

  1. Choose Generate Shopify draft.
  2. Keep the page open while the yellow Generation in progress message is visible. Firefly checks the same request until the result is ready; it does not intentionally start another generation or create a duplicate draft.
  3. When generation finishes, review the complete article preview on the page. The preview uses the language selected in the form.
  4. Choose Edit & Publish to open the Shopify draft in Firefly’s visual editor.
  5. Check the title, body, links, facts, product claims, quotations, attribution, and SEO presentation before publishing.

Video to blog creates an unpublished Shopify article. It never publishes the article automatically.

Troubleshooting

  • The description is unavailable: provide a transcript before generating. Some videos do not expose a description through the official API.
  • Generation remains in progress: leave the page open briefly. Firefly safely checks the persisted request and returns the draft when it is ready.
  • The draft is in the wrong language: return to the form, choose the intended article language, and start a new request with a new set of inputs.
  • The draft contains weak or missing details: use a cleaner transcript, make Topic and Main keyword more specific, and describe Tone and Audience more precisely.
  • A factual claim is uncertain: verify it against the original video and approved merchant sources before publishing.
