Live Visitor Probe
Live Visitor Probe is a temporary diagnostic view for understanding storefront traffic while you watch it. It shows recent visit events without recording screen content, form values, customer names, or order details.
Before you start
- Enable the Firefly Sky SEO App Embed in the theme that visitors are using.
- Open Live Probe from the app navigation.
- Keep the page open while probing. The list refreshes every two seconds only while probing is active and the admin page is visible.
Start and stop a probe
- Click Start probe. Starting a new probe clears the previous event list.
- Open the storefront on another device or wait for visitors. New events appear automatically.
- Click Stop probe when you have enough data. Polling stops immediately and the collected list remains visible.
- Use Clear list when the probe is stopped if you no longer need the events.
The probe keeps at most the 300 most recent events. It is a temporary troubleshooting tool, not permanent analytics storage; events can be lost when the app service restarts or when a new probe begins.
What each event contains
- Anonymous visitor ID: a random ID stored in that browser so related page events can be recognized. It is not a Shopify customer ID.
- Behavior: page view, page exit with approximate time on page, or a clicked outbound link.
- Network: source IP, country signal, and whether the signal came from browser-assisted detection or the app proxy request.
- Client: device category, operating system, browser name, browser engine, viewport, and User-Agent.
- Page: the storefront domain and full visited path, including the query string when available.
Search, sort, paginate, and export
Search across visitor ID, domain, IP, country, device, browser, path, and User-Agent. Select sortable column headings to change the order. You can show 10, 20, 50, 100, or all collected rows per page and export the current filtered list.
Detection limits
- JavaScript blockers, strict privacy tools, failed App Proxy requests, and bots that do not run storefront JavaScript may not appear.
- Country databases can disagree for VPNs, proxies, mobile networks, and recently reassigned IP ranges.
- An outbound link can be recorded when it is clicked. A destination typed manually in the browser address bar cannot be detected by the storefront.
- Page-exit duration is best effort. Browsers may cancel an exit beacon during an abrupt close or network loss.
Privacy guidance
IP addresses and User-Agent strings can be personal data under some privacy laws. Use Live Visitor Probe only for a defined troubleshooting purpose, limit access to authorized staff, stop it when finished, and update your privacy disclosures where required.
